WHY IT’S RAD!
Presented here is #22 of 39 cars built to campaign in the 1988-1989 Rothman's Turbo Cup series of Canada. Each 944 Turbo Cup was a factory-built racecar, lightened by approximately 600 pounds via extensive weight-saving items, including magnesium wheels, intake manifold, oil sump, a smaller alternator, manual steering, removal of unecessary wiring, sound deadening, no sunroof, and more! The Weissach built engines were tuned by each team bumping power to ~300hp from 217hp.
This example emblazoned with the RADDEST livery of the series, proved very popular in period. Over 60% of the series' footage includes this Reebok liveried vehicle in action. The car is a 4 time podum finisher with one of those being a win in the hands of Rick Bye at Mont-Tremblant in 1989. Incredibly, he stayed out on slicks during a damp race and beat out the cars on treaded tires.

Per the selling dealer, the car is in great condition "by race car standards", with minor cosmetic issues like chipping paint and vinyl.
2 service documents are included showing services in early 2020 that include the following:
- New timing belt and water pump
- Engine oil, brake fluid, and transaxle flush
- Lower control arms with alignment
- Ignition system tune up--distributor cap, spark plugs, and wires.
New BFG Sport Comp 2's were installed in early 2020 as well. The selling dealer has also made an effort to make the car streetable by having all lights serviced/installed, windshield wiper motor and wipers installed, and ebrake assembly serviced.
The vehicle is said to have had its "fair share of race incidents" and those can be viewed on YouTube, as every single race is documented visually. Damage appears to be limited to a driver's side front fender/bumper/hood impact and a rear bumper replacement during a fire that was "quickly put out." The original options code sticker is still present in spare tire well area, evidence that it was likelt not hit in the rear or damaged there.
The selling dealer states the vehicle is mechanically very sound and drives great. It is said to be extremely well balanced, and has a duality about it, making it very tame and user friendly. This car that is very drivable around town. It has normal functional seat belts and two seats making it "technically road legal."
