WHY IT’S RAD!
STI Limited “Tribute” +
When you can’t import it, build it. That is how this awesome little wagon came to be. The seller and owner of this car actually owned a very rare (1 of 500) Subaru STI Limited Wagon while stationed in Japan. He then proceeded to build his dream wagon out of it and went through the entire vehicle including drivetrain, suspension, and cosmetics. When the time came for him to move back to the US, he realized he wouldn’t be able to export his dream build to the US (due to the 25 year rule), so instead, he completely took it apart and shipped all the parts to the US to re-create his wagon back home. This is that wagon.
The 1997 Subaru Impreza presented here started its life as a white Outback Sport and was acquired by the seller from an employee at the well established aftermarket turbo component company, TurboXS. At the time of acquisition, the car was running a USDM WRX swap. The seller then proceeded to completely strip the car down to a bare frame in preparation of re-creating his STI Limited using the top notch components from his car back in Japan.
At this point, he replaced the WRX engine with the V8 STI EJ207 he ran in his other car. The engine is extensively modified with a Tomei turbo, Tomei injectors, Tomei EXPREME exhaust manifold, HKS downpie, and TurboXS top mount intercooler to name a few parts. The seller states the car put down 323WHP with the current tune. Two videos of the vehicle on the dyno can be viewed via the links below:

The USDM vehicle was then converted to right hand drive (RHD) with OEM components. Simultaneously, suspension including Cusco sway bars, KW V3 coilovers, and JDM 4 piston STI calipers were added. The car was then sent to Paint Mongers in Maryland for a respray in Sonic Blue Mica, code “74F.” This color is similar to the legendary World Rally Blue, however it is lighter and was never used on vehicles sold in the US.
The current tune was done at MachV Motorsports and is said to be on the conservative side (injector limited), albeit very reliable, as the seller used the car as a daily driver for several years before being recently relocated to Germany for his military service.
At the moment, the car is always garaged and driven on a semi-regular basis by the seller’s father to keep the car healthy.
All major services are said to have been performed during swap ~15,000 miles ago and the oil was changed 5/15/21.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a well sorted JDM STI Limited tribute with added spice. With its adjustable suspension, it’s ready to tackle all different types of road surfaces, so the new owner can unleash his or hers inner Colin McRae.
