WHY IT’S RAD!
The E36 BMW dominated the second half of the RADwood Era, as it ran from it’s debut in 1990 until it’s finale in 2000. From motorsport successes to their “ultimate driving machine” reputation, it’s no surprise these iconic BMW’s landed on Car and Driver’s top ten list every single year they were offered. With fantastic driving dynamics, clean styling and excellent part support, these cars will always have a strong enthusiast following.
This late model-run 323ic has always remained in Monterey County and although most convertibles were equipped with an auto, this example features a 5-speed manual transmission. The “Schwarz 2” black paint over black leather interior is a classic combo and the car remains largely preserved and original although CARFAX reports minor damage to the right rear in 2007.
The black leather interior features power windows, factory sport steering wheel and shift knob. The premium factory stereo remains along with the trunk mounted CD-changer and Harmon/Kardon speakers and subwoofer. The trunk appears very clean with bright carpet and includes the complete BMW tool kit. A rear windscreen is also present and the car comes with 2 original keys with factory alarm fobs. The digital odometer currently shows 118k miles.
Condition presents as a very nice driver example overall but some wear consistent with age can be seen in photos. Blemishes include a few minor interior plastic trim cracks, wear to the convertible top plastic window in places and typical wear to leather surfaces. The convertible top itself is in excellent condition and the top motor functions perfectly. Minor rock chips to the nose and some scraping to the underside of the front bumper can be seen in photos. Being a California car, it appears rust free and underside photos indicate no leaks from the motor or drivetrain. Regular synthetic oil changes were performed throughout ownership. Paint and interior condition indicate that the car was garaged regularly.
The seller has just recently acquired this E36 and has performed a recent oil service and fresh Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires have been fitted to unblemished factory alloy twin spoke wheels.
The M52 inline-six cylinder engine is said to run well, remains unmodified and produced 168hp when new. The 5-speed transmission shifts smoothly and the exhaust remains the factory twin tail pipe set-up. There are no warning lights present (OBDII) and the seller has recently completed a California smog check.
