WHY IT’S RAD!
The RADwood Era was great for GT’s and coupes. It’s as if almost every model in period was offered with both 4-doors and two. Cars like the BMW M6, Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC or the Lexus SC400 highlighted the segment and encouraged other manufacturers to follow suit. That’s where the Acura Legend comes into the conversation.
Acura had already established itself as a player in the “sporting” 4-seat coupe market with it’s Legend Coupe appearing in North America in 1987. Building on that success (and well received styling), Acura introduced the second generation Legend Coupe (KA8) in 1991. To compete with some of the larger luxury models offered, the Legend moved closer to a full size coupe, while still embracing their original slogan of “precision crafted performance.”
This particular 1993 Acura Legend “L” Coupe is noteworthy for it’s unusual configuration featuring a longitudinally mounted 3.2L "Type II" V6, front-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual transmission.
Always in California, the car spent time in Los Angeles and La Jolla before arriving in the SF Bay Area in 2004 where it remains. The clean CARFAX report shows five owners to date and the odometer displays 136k miles from new.
Finished in Canterbury Green over tan leather interior, it appears to be a survivor example in daily driver condition with some considerable blemishes present such as clear coat peeling, leather splitting in several places, and additional signs of wear typical for the age of the vehicle. A Gameboy sized dent is visible on the front left fender. It remains unmodified aside from an aftermarket muffler and a K&N air filter.
Recent maintenance work covers timing belt and water pump replacement along with drive belts, coolant and radiator hose. Tune-up items were also addressed recently and include new spark plugs, fuel filter, oil service and transmission flush completed by the seller. Tires are from 2015 and are fitted to stock wheels with some curb rash. There is some noise noted from the rear suspension over speed bumps. The drivers window has trouble sealing when closing at highway speeds and the power sunroof is fully operational but closes slowly.
The seller reports the transmission shifts well, A/C blows cold and it has recently passed CA smog inspection. Additional maintenance parts are included with the vehicle.
