WHY IT’S RAD!
Presented here is a Westmoreland, PA built 1986 Volkswagen MKII Golf. These “Westy” models with their utilitarian design and now, iconic grille and headlights, have developed a cult following.
It is quite rare to find a MK2 Westy Golf intact with the original front end, as ironically, many were converted to the “Euro” round headlight spec.
This example has travelled 73,217 miles and wears it's original Light Auburn Metallic paint with patina throughout. The tweed interior shows no tears and the dashboard is free of cracks. The underside is described as “completely rust free” and a video is included below showing the condition on a lift:
Both the original fuel injected 1.8L in-line four petrol engine and 5-speed manual transmission are said to be in excellent working order. The seller acquired the vehicle in 2017 and has performed the following maintenance:
- Fresh oil change
- New fuel pump relay
- New shifter linkage bushings
- New driver’s side door handle with its own key
- New passenger’s side door handle with its own key
- New right outer cv axle boot
- New air filter
- New fuel filter
- New oil dipstick tube
- New upper radiator house
- Coolant serviced at 64,151 ODO
- Changing/adjusting of serpentine belt at 64,151 ODO
- New used fuel pump housing
- New pre-pump
- New lift support for trunk
The audio system is said to work, however the speakers can use replacing. Also, everything on the cluster is functional, minus the digital time clock.
The seller states the previous owner, a VW mechanic, replaced the following items shortly before selling the car: spark plugs, timing belt, v-belt, and a heater hose. However, no records of these items are included.
The car passed the stringent California SMOG emissions test on 12/21/20 and is currently registered with a clean California title in the seller's name.
Aftermarket Kenwood single din deck (USB/CD-player)- OEM factory AM/FM radio will be included.
