WHY IT’S RAD!
The third generation of the F-body Camaro was introduced in 1982 and kicked off a new-for-the-80s technology focused approach to design and features. The Camaro was now a sharp aerodynamic wedge wiith (optional) digital instrumentation. The Berlinetta package was a “luxury” option package compared to the super sport focused Z-28 and IROC-Z models. The Berlinetta came equipped with a digital dash, softer suspension, power accessories, and plush cloth interiors. Although the ground effects kits that came with the sportier models were undoubtedly cool, there is something RAD about the clean, unadulterated lines of the Berlinetta model with interesting body coloring and pin-striping to boot.
The 1986 model presented here was purchased by the seller’s father in 1992 from the original owner and the car has remained with the family since. It is reported to be one of the rarest Camaro’s on offer for the year. This one is 1 of 4,479 produced with the Berlinetta package in 1986. The car came loaded with options such as digital gauges, fog lights, 15” gold wheels with black center caps (the standard Berlinetta wheels were 14”), T-tops, power driver’s seat, power windows, locks, and mirrors. The 305ci V8 is said to run well and it comes paired with black stainless headers. Oil changes are said to have been performed every 3,000 miles or once per year. Power is sent to the rear via a 4-speed automatic transmission which is said to be in good working order and shifts are smooth.
The digital cluster displays 128,500 miles and the digital tach, as well as the “tower radio” are said to be functional. The radio does include an iPod plug, however the cassette deck and antenna regulator are not operational. The power windows are operational, albeit slow. The red cloth interior presents well with no visible tears or major wear.
T-tops appear to be in good shape with no cracks or scratches, however the seals are said to leak. While the paint is said to be all original, it does show scratches and scuffs throughout, with the most notable areas being the front/rear bumpers and passenger rear quarter.
The following “extras” will be included with the car:
T-top storage case
T-top carrier (2)
Rear deck tonneau cover (2)
Wheel center caps (8)
Dunlop tire with <1,000 miles
FlowMaster 650 CFM muffler with <200 miles
